This tour takes you on a walk down Puiestee Street – a location rich in captivating history and architecture, concealing a vibrant building past. You will discover how the area has transformed over time, including where Kabelinurm was located and where the Daugull Gardens once stood. Along the way, you will explore the heritage of renowned architects on both an Estonian and European scale, including Viktor Schröter, who designed the Kyiv Opera House, and former Tartu city architect Arnold Matteus. Over the years, Puiestee Street has played host to everything from song festivals to court hearings.
Ants Siim works as a curator at the Tartu City Museum and is an experienced city guide. He is driven by a passion to bring local history closer to people through storytelling and by highlighting fascinating details in the urban space.
