The University of Tartu Delta Centre, which has become a landmark in the heart of Tartu with its modern architecture and bold material choices, houses the Institute of Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, as well as the Faculty of Economics. The triangular-shaped complex is also home to the university’s entrepreneurship and innovation center, as well as several private companies. The goal of this building, which houses various institutes, a center, and private enterprises, is to promote high-level research and education and to advance the Estonian economy through collaboration. The architecture competition held in 2016 was won by the architectural firm Arhitekt 11 with their concept named ICONICUM. In addition to its versatile interior conducive to teaching, research, and development, the Delta Centre places great emphasis on its surrounding environment—the outdoor space of the building is designed in harmony with the Emajõgi River and the park.
